Blabbermouth reports that Mercyful Fate was presented with the "honor award" at the Danish Metal Awards 2006, which were held on Saturday, November 18 at Amager Bio in Copenhagen, Denmark. Original members Michael Denner (guitar), Hank Shermann (guitar), Timi "Grabber" Hansen (bass) and Kim Ruzz (drums) appeared in public together for the first time in 22 years to accept the award. Vocalist King Diamond was unable to attend the event due to the fact that he is currently working on a new King Diamond album in Dallas, Texas.

ANUS.COM reports that members of the American Nihilist Underground Society - an organization known for its extensive and elitist Dark Legions metal archives - last week returned a long-lost artifact of heavy metal history to its rightful owner.

The "Melissa" skull, which was once owned by King Diamond, was stolen at a Mercyful Fate show in Holland in the mid 1980s. The skull was said to be that of a witch who suffered at the hands of Judeo-Christianity before finding its way to King Diamond. Prior to the theft, the skull often accompanied King Diamond on shows and inspired multiple Mercyful Fate and King Diamond songs one of which was chosen as the title for Mercyful Fate's debut album.

The ANUS member who recovered Melissa declined to give his real name, but opted to give his ANUS screen name of "Penisbird". To read his story, in a slightly edited and abridged version, click HERE.

In other news, King Diamond is the latest metal musician to lend his voice to the cartoon series "Metalocalypse". King Diamond recorded his part on Monday, August 21 and reportedly "kicked ass."

King Diamond will be lending his inimitable voice to acclaimed director Kevin Smith's next movie, The Passion of the Clerks, which is a sequel to the 1994 independent classic Clerks, and is due to arrive in theaters later this year.

The movie is set 10 years later, but Dante and Randall are still spending time together, sitting around work, not working.

"Welcome Home," from 1988's gothic masterpiece "Them" is the song in question - no word yet on whether Jay and Silent Bob will launch into fits of air guitar or burst into a joint chorus of "GRANDMAAAAAA!"
